Appavanibham Nercha

Date:22-03-2019 to 22-03-2019

The Idiyangara Sheikh Masjid in Kozhikode district of Kerala is famous for its annual festival of Appavanibham Nercha.  Celebrated every year on the 15th Rajab in the Hijra Calendar, the festival got its name from the fact that very brisk trade carried on these rice cakes during the festival.

The festival is celebrated as a commemoration of the reverence paid to saint Abu Wafa Shamsuddin Mohammed popularly known as Sheikh Mamukyoa.

During the festival time, devotees visiting here present cultivated crops along with clothes and other offerings to the mosque. Devotees also offer miniature forms of human body and organs to the mosque.
