Moozhikkulam Arattu Festival

Moozhikulam Lakshmana Perumal Temple, located at Thirumoozhikulam in Ernakulam, is one of the temples in Kerala dedicated to Lakshmana, the brother of Lord Rama. Lakshmana is worshipped here as the incarnation of Adi Sesha (the serpent).  

The ten-day annual festival of the temple begins with Kodiyettam (ceremonial flag hoisting) on Atham asterism and ends with an arattu on Thiruvonam asterism in the Malayalam month of Medam (April -May).

Nalambala Darshanam, the annual pilgrimage of visiting four temples of Sree Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Sathrughna as main deities in the Malayalam month of Karkidakam, is considered auspicious by the devotees. And Moozhikkulam Lakshmana Temple is one of the temples included in this. Other temples are the Triprayar Sree Rama Temple, Koodalmanikyam temple and Payammel Shathrugna Temple.
