Edathua Feast
Date:27-04-2019 to 07-05-2019
Upon the banks of the River Pamba resides a massive shrine dedicated to St. George with all its glory and pride. The church built some 200 years ago, resembles the churches of medieval Europe. A serene spot, the St. George's Church becomes a bustling spot during the month of April, for it is the time of the renowned Edathua Perunnal or Edathua Feast.
A resplendent statue of St. George is carried out and placed on the dais at the centre of the basilica during the feast. People from all over the state as well as from the neighbouring states, both Christian and non-Christian pilgrims, swarm the church and neighbourhood during this time. Many of these devotees stay in the church premises and take part in the ritual bathing in the river flowing in front of the church.
The astonishing fireworks and the colourful illumination of the church pull a fairly large crowd.
