Sree Rama Temple, located at Kadavallur in Thrissur district, is the famous temple known for the annual assembly of Rig vedic scholars – the Kadavallur Anyonyam. During the time of Anyoyam traditional scholars of Rigveda assemble in the temple and enter in severe competitions in the chanting of Rigveda for eight days. It is, in fact, the final test, which a Brahmin boy has to take, to be called a Vedic scholar. The Kadavalloor Anyonyam is conducted for eight days every year during the first fortnight of the Malayalam month of Vrischikam (mid-November). The festival will be held from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs.
The main deity of this temple is a four-armed Vishnu who is worshipped here as Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The annual ten-day arattu festival of this will be held on Pooyam asterism in the Malayalam month of Medam.
Another festival celebrated here is the Kadavallur Ekadeshi in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January-February).
Sree Rama Jayanthi is also observed here.
During Shivaratri, the Koothambalam (traditional theatre) of this temple witness various performances of classical art forms like Kathakali, Chakyarkoothu and so on.
