One of the oldest temples in Kozhikode, Uru Punyakavu Sree Durga Bhagavathy Temple is dedicated to Goddess Jaladurga. The temple famous for the Vavu Bali or Bali Tharpanam on the new moon day in the Malayalam months of Karkidakam (July–August), Kumbham (February–March) and Thulam (October- November). 

The annual seven-day festival is celebrated as Karthika Vilakku starts on the Karthika asterism in the Malayalam month of Vrischikam.  

The deity worshipped here is a combination of Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Vidhya Swaroopini and Goddess Annapoorneshwari.
