Mattannur Arattu Utsavam

One of the prominent temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Mattannur Mahadeva Temple celebrates the annual festival in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (Mid February – Mid March). The festival starts on Kumbham 12 and lasts for seven days and ends with an arattu (ceremonial bath).
During the festival devotee’s throngs to the temple for witnessing the 'Thidambu Nritham', a ritual dance performed in the temples of Malabar and the ritual of Theru (Chariot).
