Sree Bala Subramanya Temple at Ulloor is one of the temples in Thiruvananthapuram dedicated to Lord Subramanya. Every year the temple celebrates two festivals, one is the Meena Mahotsavam and the other Thaipooyam.
Meena Mahotsavam, an eight-day festival that falls on the Malayalam month of Meenam (March- April). The festival commences with Kodiyettam ends with the Arattu (holy bath) of the deity.
Thaipooyam festival is a one-day festival and the main attraction of the thaipooyam festival is the devotees carrying kavadi (richly decorated wooden arches) on their shoulders perform a ritualistic dance called Kavadiyattom.
