Pazhayannur Niramala Mahotsavam

Pazhayannur Bhagavathy Temple is located at Pazhayannur in Thrissur and is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. Flying live roosters or cocks and feeding of them are considered as one of the favourite offering to the deity.

Niramala Mahotsavam, celebrated every year on the last Friday of the Malayalam month of Thulam (Mid November) is one of the major festivals of Pazhayannur Bhagavathy Temple. Decorations with more than hundreds of flower garlands, Illuminations, elephant procession and traditional orchestra performance are the highlights of Niramala Mahotsavam. On the next day of Niramala, Vettekkaran Kavu (one of the sub deities) Chuttuvilakku will be conducted.

Kalamezhuthum Pattu is another ritual conducted during this festival.

The annual arattu festival will be celebrated on Chothi asterism in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March- April).
