Date:07-01-2019 to 09-01-2019

Sree Vettakkorumakan Temple, located in the ruins of Balussery Kotta (Fort) in Kozhikode is famous for the annual three-day festival, which falls in the Malayalam month of Dhanu. One of the most famous rituals held during the festival is the Pantheerayiram thengayeru (twelve thousand coconuts). The ritual, performed continuously in a rhythmic motion, is said to be the most favourite offering to Vettakkorumakan, the folk deity.  Kalamezhuthu Pattu is another ritual which is held as part the annual festival.

Vettakkorumakan is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. He is a hunter god and is worshipped in many village shrines in northern Kerala.
