Mathikunnu Vela Mahotsavam

Mathikunnu Bhagavathy Temple, located in Thrissur district, has Goddess Bhagavathy as the presiding deity. The annual Vela Mahotsavam is the major festival conducted in this temple. This seven-day festival begins with a Kodiyettam and ends on Atham asterism in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January-February).
The temple remains closed for 7 days after the Vela Mahotsavam and will be reopened with the Pongala offering by the women devotees.
The temple also celebrates Trikarthika in the Malayalam month of Vrischikam (November - December) and Kalamezhuthum Pattu on 1st day of Vrischikam (November - December).
