Vishu Festival of Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple

Lord Ayyappa in the form of a child is the principal deity in Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple. And the deity here is popularly known as Kulathupuzha Balakan. The annual festival of the temple is celebrated on Vishu, 1st of the Malayalam month of Medam (Mid April).
Meenoottu (feeding of the fishes) is the main offering of the temple and the fishes in the Kulathupuzha river are called Thirumakkal (sacred children of the Lord).
The Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple is located in the reserve forest areas of Kollam district.
