Chicken Thoran


Boneless chicken pieces chopped – ½ Kg
Chopped onion – 4 nos
Chopped green chilies – 6 nos
Grated coconut – 2 cups
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Chicken masala – 1 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Chopped ginger and garlic – 2 tsp each
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Oil – as required
Dried red chilies – 4 nos
Curry leaves – as required
Salt – as required
Coriander leaves – ½ cup

Method of Preparation:

In a pan, add 3 tsp of oil. Splutter mustard seeds and fennel seeds. To this add dried red chilies and curry leaves. To this add onion, green chilies, ginger and garlic. Sauté well. Add chicken pieces, dry curry powders (chili, coriander, turmeric, chicken masala) and salt. Cook this by closing the lid and adding required amount of water. Let the water reduce. To the mix add coarsely ground coconut, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
