Thayir Vada


Urad dal – 1 cup
Chopped ginger – 1 tsp
Soda powder – ½ tsp
Salt – as required
Oil – as required
Set curd – 3 ½ cups
Sugar – 1 cup
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Dried red chilies – 4 nos
Curry leaves – as required
Grated carrot – ¼ cup
Green chilies – 2 nos

Method of Preparation:

Soak urad dal in water for 2 hours. Grind the soaked dal to make fine paste with salt and ginger. To this add soda powder and roll it and make a hole in the center and then fry it in the oil. Mix curd and sugar well in a bowl. To this immerse the fried vada. In a pan, add oil and splutter mustard seeds and 1 tsp of urad dal. Add dried red chilies and curry leaves into it. Add this to the curd vada. Garnish it with grated carrots and chopped green chilies. Keep it in the fridge.
