Dry Prawns & Cabbage Thoran


Small dry prawns – 1 cup
Chopped cabbage – 1 cup
Curry leaves - as required
Chopped onion – ½ cup
Chopped green chilies – 2 nos
Salt - as required
Chopped ginger-garlic – 1 tsp each
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Coconut oil - as required
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp

Method of Preparation:

Clean dry prawns. In a pan add 2 tsp of oil. Splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add curry leaves, onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies and sauté. Add prawns and a small amount of water to it. Close the lid and cook. When the prawns get almost cooked open the lid and add cabbage. Close the lid and cook. Grind coarsely coconut, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Add this ground mixture and close the lid. Cook for another 2 minutes and sauté.
