Jackfruit Erissery


Jackfruit cut into round pieces – 3 cups
Jackfruit seeds cut into round pieces – 1 cup
Grated coconut – 2 cups
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Pepper powder – ½ tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Dried red chilies – 3 nos
Curry leaves – as required
Shallots – 4 nos
Salt – as required
Coconut oil – as required

Method of Preparation:

In a pressure cooker – cook jackfruit and its seeds along with dry powders (chili, turmeric, pepper) and water. To this add ground mixture of coconut, cumin seeds, shallots and curry leaves. Mix well. In another pan add oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add dried red chilies and curry leaves. Add this mixture to the jackfruit curry and mix well.
