Rice flakes Uppumavu


Rice flakes (Aval) – 2 cups
Grated coconut – 3 tsp
Chopped ginger – ¼ tsp
Chopped green chilies – 2 nos
Chili powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves - as required
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Urad dal – 2 tsp
Channa dal – 1 tsp
Oil - as required
Salt - as required
Ground nut – 2 tsp
Chopped Onions – 1 cup
Chopped carrot, potatoes and beans and green peas – 1 cup

Method of Preparation:

Mix rice flakes with salt and water. In a pan, add 4 tsp of oil. Splutter mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal in it. Add ground nuts, curry leaves, ginger, green chilies, onion, vegetables (carrot, potatoes, beans and green peas), chili powder, turmeric powder. Sauté well. Add required amount of water and boil it. Add salt to it. Now add rice flakes and mix. Let the water reduce completely. Add grated coconut and mix.
