Uzhunnu Vada


Urad dal – 500 gm
Pepper – 15 nos
Chopped ginger – 2 tsp
Salt - as required
Chopped green chilies – 7 nos
Chopped coriander leaves - as required
Chopped curry leaves - as required
Shallots cut in round - as required
Oil – for frying

Method of Preparation:

Soak urad dal in water for 4 hours. Strain the water. Grind it well in a mixer or grinder. Do not add water. Grind by adding salt to get enough wetness. Mix all the vegetables (ginger, green chilies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, shallots) well to the ground mixture. Take a small ball of batter in your hand. Press it and make a small hole in the center. Put it directly into the hot oil and deep fry it. Fry both the sides till it turns brown. Serve with chutney.
